Teacher seeking New Home Sales career in Houston, TX?
I would like to work as a New Home Sales Consultant in Houston. A real estate license is not needed in Texas to work for a home builder, however I have two out of the five required real estate courses completed. I’m wondering whether or not it would be easier for me to work as a Real Estate Agent (maybe part-time?) first to get experience than to try to get a job with a builder, given the current state of the market. How often do these builders hire people without experience?
I need answers from individuals in the business please. Thanks!
Many builders prefer that you do not work as an independent realty agent before selling new homes. The builders have a very closely, detailed approach that they want you to follow. Agents who have worked on their own are often resistant to that regimented approach ( altho it does work pretty well for the builders). So go and apply at the builders. Since few are hiring, offer to sub in for anyone who calls in sick or goes on vacation. Once they see you work, they will hire you full-time.
